Calimesa Chamber Scholarship Program -Mission Statement

The scholarship committee of the Calimesa Chamber of Commerce celebrates the accomplishments of students in the Yucaipa Valley communities by supporting their goals for higher education in the form of awarding scholarships to assist with the high cost of college/university education.

The Calimesa Chamber of Commerce will award three scholarships annually. The scholarship committee will work with local, public high schools to discover deserving applicants. Applicants must be high school seniors who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.

In addition to the academic scholarships, the Calimesa Chamber of Commerce will also award three (3) sophomore students the opportunity to participate in the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminar (HOBY).  This unique program offers and cultivates leadership skills that prepare high school sophomores for a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. Selected students will participate in a three or four-day seminar to explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to lead others and make a positive impact in their community.

Calimesa Chamber of Commerce - Scholarship Criteria

Scholarship applications are solicited from local, area high schools.  The Scholarship Committee is authorized to select the top three (3) graduating seniors to receive the scholarships.

The grades of the candidates for the award shall be at least a “B” average.

The award shall not be paid to the student, but must be paid to the school of his/her choice at the beginning of the Fall term when ‘proof of registration’ as a full-time student is furnished by the school.

In selecting the student for the award, the following should be considered; need, desire to continue his/her education and potential for making the use of an education in a given field.

The recipients of the award shall be asked to communicate with the Calimesa Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee at least once during the year telling his/her grades and progress; whether he/she expects to continue his/her education along the same lines; extra-curricular activities and other information he/she thinks may be of interest to the Chamber.
